Set up by BIOTECH FOUNDATION, a trust for promoting Education, Training and Research in Genetic and Biotechnology. INSTITUTE OF GENETIC ENGINEERING (IGE) established in 2003, to ensure quality teaching and research in Genetics and Biotechnology.
The department of Genetics, Microbiology and Biotechnology was established in 2003 with a view to develop a Centre of Excellence in Education and Research in Genetics and Biotechnology in West Bengal.

Course Structure...

A three-year Degree Course spanning Six Semesters. Biotechnology is an emerging technology,

with immense potential in a developing country like India. The technological gap by the turn of this century and India would be a leader in certain areas of application in Biotechnology.

The new Institute emphasis was made to equip laboratories as per subjects demand and recommended by reputed Universities.
